Southwest High School Classes of ’80 and ’81 Reunion

07/10/22 Meeting Notes

Present: Nancy (chair), June, Jimmy, Betsy, Wai, Julie, Christi, Bob, Margaret, Paul

1. Registration and Finances:
—92 registered
—Discussion of how to use $286 in “help a friend” donations
—SW Foundation? Prizes? Drink tickets?
—General consensus is to put the money toward the event
—Class of ’80 still has 2k cushion
—Suggested to keep seed money (1K) for less formal gathering in future
—Food budget is around $3400; plus reserve money as needed
2. Menu/Venue:
—Committee will meet 7/12 to finalize menu, other details of event
—All rooms in block are reserved; Bob will check on adding more
—Updates from 7/12 meeting:
—Bob/Bob’s wife will arrange for cake from Costco
—Due to service charges and food costs we will NOT offer drink tix
—Book additional rooms through Dan; info added to email blast

3. Fun Committee/Activity Schedule:
—Bob/Jimmy will pick up props from June
—Margaret is working on restaurant gift cards for prizes
—Bob may have resources for this also
—Discussion of “survey questions:” Firsts, Lasts, and Mosts
—Consensus is still to keep things organic and interactive

4. Nametags:
—Wai and Nancy may do “mail merge” so Wai can do ’81 tags as well

5. Day of Event:
—Meet at 4 to decorate, arrange, etc
—Nancy will get flowers from farmers market
—Christi, Nancy, Veronica, others to bring vases to use
—Jimmy purchased 20 purple and white pompoms
—Paul will print registration forms with line for updated contact info
—Registration table will be staffed in shifts, roughly 6:30-9pm
—Wai volunteered to take the later shifts
—Enlist those who offered to help “day-of” for 1/2 hour shifts
