Those who did not attend this meeting (including Kari Kramka, Greg Breiland, Barb Wicklund, Laurie Eubank, Brigid Dodson, Bob Friese, Twla Leaf, Wayne Hanson, Jimmy Jahoda, Holly Root, Joe Swarthout, Susan Swedien, Tony Waara, Terry Daly, Margaret Johnson, Christi Siegel), we missed you.  If you could assist with any of the activity areas and/or provide ideas, we would surely appreciate your contribution.  Additionally, please attend our next meeting if you can:

Next class reunion meeting (will be in-person): Sunday, December 1, location to-be-determined, but suggesting an in-person meeting at 7:30PM.  However, a place with wifi so that we can include those who are out-of-town in the meeting.

We have decided on an event date for the class reunion of Saturday, July 25, 2020

Finance, Paul Barber

Our current bank account balance is $2000 and we have a checking account set up. We discussed a Go Fund Me campaign for the class reunion to be sure that we can cover the costs.  Interested to know your thoughts about its structure.  A suggestion was mad that we could just put an extra box on the invite that presents the opportunity to contribute $20 to defray part of the cost for a classmate who may not be able to afford the cost of the reunion.

We are looking right now at the following cost per participant breakdown for the reunion on a three-tiered basis: $50 per person by March 1, $60 by May 15, $70 at the door

We discussed that we would not turn any classmate away who felt that the cost of the reunion was prohibitively expensive for them.

Venue, Kris Robb Scarlett Wong-Lei, Bob Stein

Renaissance Hotel (Hwy 100 and 494 near Normandale Boulevard)

$5,000 food beverage including cash bar, waving the cost of the room

Hotel was total redone, mod Minnesota vibe in the lobby

Meeting room and ballroom, typical Minnesota ballroom

Outside Pool (bring a family maybe)

Hampton Inn across the parking lot (less expensive overnight stay), and other hotel venues in proximity

Close to airport, free parking

Could put aside a block of rooms

We will be looking for an additional option.

Communications/Publicity/Outreach, June Jobin Breneman, Wayne Hanson, Paul Barber

Paul mentioned that our yearbook is not on classmates.com.  It would require someone to give them theirs to scan into it.

June suggested that we have a theme?

The following were suggestions:

  • Glad to be alive
  • Life begins at 40
  • We’re not that old!
  • Come together
  • Celebrate good times!
  • Do you know classmates who have ________________

Parsing out some stories…   “Our story

Please provide theme ideas.

Suggested that we collect pictures of classmates and their families, then and now (collect from classmates) and post before reunion

Memorials, Christi

Remembering teachers and students

Event Management (Jahoda, Wai, Kari)

Suggested that we have some ideas for the night to make it fun: Activities, games, mixers

Consider opportunities to get to know our classmates

Kris suggested Friday night before cocktail casual meeting

Another suggestion was contacting Southwest about a volunteer activity we could do together at the school to help the school

Additionally, exploring weekend activities (possible Sunday picnic, Friday cocktail, other activities)

We discussed including Margaret (Kinsella) Johnson and Laurie Granbeck in this discussion.

Invitations, Betsy, Paul Barber, Bob Stein

Paul Barber and Bob Stein

Need to decide on an online vehicle for identifying classmate list, collecting payment for the class reunion as well.   Several options include

Wait until theme before constructing invitation.
